  • 4.5/5! What can I say? Joe's great! I brought my second-hand ride in at the beginning of spring 2012 to convert it from a 10-speed to a single-speed. Joe suggested a modest number of parts, and only replaced what I requested him to replace. He was honest about the quality of my bike and made tentative suggestions that I could act on if I found that my riding was aversely affected (ie, my rear wheel is not a perfect circle, but no need to replace it if I didn't find it bothersome). We took 15 minutes to align the handlebars and seat when I came in to ensure that it was a good fit. Everything was so shiny I suspect he took an extra day just to clean it -- and I point this out only because my bike hadn't been covered while my landlord did renovations and was covered from bow to stern in a thin layer of dust and grime. I had a fairly extensive list of stuff that I needed done and wasn't sure what the labour costs would be -- but it turns out Joe sunk it into the $45 cost for a regular tuneup. Colour me impressed. Fast-forward to mid-August 2012: my boyfriend and I both brought our bikes in for a mid-season check-up. My bike was cleaned thoroughly, a small bolt was replaced, and the back inner tube was swapped out. He also swapped out the rear hub on my boo's bike, made a few adjustments to the angle of the seat and the level of the handlebars, changed the grips, and returned it gleaming like new. We find Joe personable, his service impeccable, and the atmosphere in the shop welcoming to everyone, from knowledgeable bike geeks to folks like me just rolling off the street. And bonus: today, when we were in the parking lot at Walmart and the car died unexpectedly, we ran into Joe who had parked just a couple spaces down from us. He immediately offered us a boost. What a sweetheart. I'm happy to support such a great local business!
