| - My boyfriend and I recently stayed here, and we were beyond satisfied with Palms. We originally booked a Salon Suite in the Fantasy Tower, which we were already excited for. When we got to the front desk to check in, we were upgraded to the Grand Suite, which is also located in the Fantasy Tower.
The Grand Suite was gorgeous. It was over 1000 sq ft...like a little apartment! We had a guest bathroom, a full gorgeous bar with a fridge, and a living room containing a huge sofa, flat screen tv, and a great view from the 28th floor. The bedroom contained another huge window, with a desk, armchair, another flat screen tv, and a huge comfy king size bed. The master bathroom was my favorite...we had an unbelievable Jacuzzi tub. The water came down from the ceiling to fill the tub, and once it was filled, we were able to turn on the jets and the underwater LED lights that gradually changed colors. It was beautiful! We also had his and hers sinks, a full glass shower, and yet another little flat screen tv that was viewable from the tub. We got his and hers robes, and plenty of fluffy towels. The drapes and sheer curtains open and closed with a push of a button in both the living room and bedroom. There's two buttons next to the front door that either illuminate "Do Not Disturb" or "Housekeeping." We were never bothered when we had Do Not Disturb lit up.
Hotel had everything we needed. Nightclubs, restaurants, food court, movie theater, casino, and spa. There was a free shuttle that runs until 8pm that takes you to the strip, which was very convenient.
The staff was excellent. As soon as we checked in, one of the staff members followed us up with our luggage, and showed us around the room. They were friendly about letting us check in early, and giving us a late check out at 1pm. Our flight home was a red eye, and they had no problem holding our luggage while we walked The Strip for the day. My boyfriend tried tipping one of the maids, and she politely declined and said "I'm very happy to help you." (We left her a tip anyway for the kindness.)
The casino was awesome, at least for us. Walking through it didn't make me feel like I just smoked a pack of cigarettes (unlike some of the others in Vegas.) I stuck with the slots, which were good in variety, and he played poker. The staff at the poker tables were AWESOME. They let me pull up a chair and sit behind him while he played, which was so laid back and cool of them to do. They were all so cool, and talked to us and joked around. It was a very comfortable, non intimidating atmosphere.
The Drift spa was great...but I have a separate review on that.
We had some cons, but not enough to take a star away:
1. Far from the strip. This was our fault for not doing research on that part, but at least the free shuttle was convenient during the day. However, the shuttle only seats 12. It runs every half hour, and I would suggest waiting 15 minutes early. We had to miss it a few times.
2.The TV in the living room kept glitching non stop to the point where we couldn't watch it for more than 5 minutes without getting annoyed. Seeing as how there were 2 other TV's in the room, and we had plenty to do in Vegas anyway, this was only a problem for our late night binge eating.
3. I went to the spa, which was located in Palms Place. Palms Place was pretty modern, but seemed extremely cold and uncomfortable. It was just shiny brown walls everywhere that I walked with no furniture or décor. The regular Palms hotel was definitely better and more exciting to walk through, and though I haven't been in rooms in the Palms Place, I would recommend just the Palms. Not only that, but it took two elevators, and three sets of moving walkways to get there.
4. We called for late check out, which wasn't a problem, but at normal check out time, a random male employee knocked on our door and asked if we knew that it was check out time. We informed him that we had late check out, and he apologized and walked away. It was kind of strange.
5. The nightclubs aren't the greatest. Played music from like 2 years ago.
