Was interviewed for an RN position several months ago. The assistant DON who interviewed me was demeaning and lied several times during the interview. She said I moved around too much in my career. (I spent 10 years at one hospital and 5 years at another and 4 years in the military!) She told me they have self scheduling for the staff and in the next sentence told me that would not apply to me since I would be on a set Thursday, Friday and Saturday schedule 12 hour nights to match the other RN schedule on the unit. That means working every weekend for this hospital. I would be the only RN on this unit and in the next sentence the DON said I could be floated anytime and anywhere because "that is the way things are here." So no job security on a set unit with this hospital. So...they did not hire this RN with over 25 years of experience but on a positive note, I feel I dodged a bullet. They are constantly looking for nurses and have many open positions. That should say it all. Sincerely, RN BSN
