  • Record stores don't get any better than this. On the way in, you're greeted by exuberantly oversized front-window exhibits celebrating new releases. The main floor has T-shirts, more T-shirts, books, DVDs, and a fantastic selection of CDs - if you have a list of favourite bands no one else has heard of, don't be surprised if you spot discs by two or three of them here. Downstairs is the vintage-everything room: vinyl, VHS tapes, and even cassettes! But it is the antithesis of a garage-sale: everything is as clean and organised as it is upstairs with the CDs. Meanwhile, the staff are funny and helpful, and always eager to talk about anything music-related. The hours are great, too; a lot of the time Sonic Boom is open until midnight. If you've ever been known to enjoy music, odds are you'll enjoy this place. Check it out!
