  • Every once in a while I find a place that I just don't want to tell anyone else about. It's selfish but you can't go giving it all away for free now can you? Crows Nest Barbershop is that kind place. Tucked away in the basement of a clothing shop on Kensington Ave is one of the best barbershops I have ever seen. It's small and feels like a club house, the way barbershops were meant to be. The shop tends to cater to a more classic style of haircut. Don't be surprised if you see a good solid pompadour stroll out before you sit down. Crows Nest sells pomades and other hair styling products as well. There are only two chairs and one barber so you will probably have to plan ahead and make an appointment. If you're in a rush, this is not the place to go. I had the chance to sit down, relax a bit and read old (not classic, I mean printed in the 50s "old") hot rod magazines while the young man in the chair ahead of me got a lesson on how to pomp his hair. All the while I kept wondering why there aren't more places like this.
