| - I just moved to Tempe, and was about 3 months overdue for a haircut. I did some Googling to find a good barber, but came up dry. I started checking out the salons, as I wanted to try a new hair style, and after an hour or so of searching, decided to try Salon 7000. I called up, and set an appointment for an hour from then.
My hair stylist was Melissa. I felt kind of awkward at first, because I wanted to show some pictures of what I wanted, but she was more than happy to take a look, and after we went through a few pics, we both agreed on what would work best for my hair. After quickly washing my hair, she set out on giving me a great haircut.
Normally the talk during a haircut with a new person is strained and awkward at best, but I have to say, I learned A LOT! I found out that I've wasted hundreds of dollars on conditioner over the years, and that the shampoo I recently picked up sucks (I'd see right through a sales pitch, and this wasn't one. i was making my hair greasy with it). Melissa also taught me about how to use the right product (paste in my case) and how to actually style my hair each day. I was really impressed.
The price, I have to say, was about twice as expensive as any other haircut I've had in my life, however, I felt that Melissa genuinely deserved every penny, and Salon 7000 should be lucky to have such a great stylist. I will DEFINITELY go back.
Something for the guys... I looked around at a lot of places around town, and most hair salons are really targeted towards women (PINK DEFINITELY comes to mind), however, I have to say, once I got the introductions out of the way, I felt very welcome, and comfortable. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
