Guys, this hike is difficult!! We took the Echo Canyon Trail. Before heading out we read plenty of reviews on AllTrails that ranged from "my six year old can do it" to "I saw a guy break his leg last week." We are from Indiana and aren't extremely experienced hikers but have done many "difficult" trails without much trouble in the past. By far the hardest "hike" I've done in a long time. I would consider calling some (or most) parts of this "rock climbing" instead of hiking. It's a short but aggressively inclined hike that requires a LOT of water and breaks. The trail is heavily trafficked by families, college students and serious trail runners. I recommend a backpack or CamelBak to keep your hands free. Wear a pair of good hiking shoes and consider wearing gloves to protect your hands from the rocks. The earlier you start this hike the better in terms of shade and temperature. It took us about two hours to go up and back down. Definitely a great accomplishment and we would do it again. I think we will be sore for the next few days though!
