  • This is an unassuming little shop in a generic corporate strip mall on the corner of Rainbow and Sunset. It sits in the shadow of the Boyd Gaming building and keeps most of its wonders on the inside. If a friend of mine hadn't talked them up relentlessly, I never would have stopped. Peridot has a great variety of baked goods that rotate from day to day. I'm not sure if there's a schedule or if its luck of the draw, but I've been fortunate enough to try a number of the cupcakes, and they are all delicious! I've also tried some of the holiday offerings (Cornbread muffins, pie) and they are amazing. I've never tried anything that is less than delicious. The cakes are moist and tasty. The frosting is a bit on the sweet side, but it's so buttery, I can't complain. I love the fruit cupcakes (berry, lemon, apple). Everything is always so fresh and delicious that even in a city filled with bakeries, I'm willing to make the hike across town to Peridot.
