  • There aren't too many things I get excited about these days, but this weekend when I took a visit to the Super L Ranch Market, that all changed. If you're a fan of Asian culture or just a fan of random "weird" sh*t, then it's hard not to have a fun experience at this market. Walking in felt like walking through the gate of a theme park. They just need to add a sweet speaker system that blasts dramatic music, and they can start charging for admission. I saw things here that I have never seen. One of which being durian fruit. For those who haven't watched Andrew Zimmern, let me explain. The durian fruit is a Southeast Asian fruit that apparently is quite foul smelling when opened. So foul that in some areas of SE Asia, its been banished from public transportation. It stanks. Bottom line is... now that I know where to find one, I'm having a Durian Fruit Party. I'm going to invite friends to my home and without warning, I am going to smash open a durian fruit. It will be glorious... (I'm not good at "friends") Do you like pork? Well at Super L you can find every part of the pig. Snout to uterus. Yup. You read that correctly. I'll leave that right there. I could really go on and on about all the cool stuff here, but the last thing I'll mention is the bakery. The different array of buns are so good. I prefer the sweet variety. And one of these days I want to try one of their cakes because they look beautiful. Heads up: You pay for bakery goods at the bakery. Separate from the rest of the store items. I'm not sure why. Oh! Wait! Wait! Wait! I almost forgot! You can also buy large live frogs... to eat... or keep as a pet... or set free. I didn't ask. You decide.
