  • Dinner at home last night with no time to make dessert...so popped over to get some CAKE BATTER ice cream (BEST in the universe!) Saw a new flavor...Red Velvet Cake. First---very rarely does anyone bake this delicacy properly...it is an unusual recipe and an unusual flavor AT FIRST...until you become addicted! The Original recipe is very old...and buttermilk or sour milk and vinegar, make it what it is...NOT RED FOOD COLORING, which should be cut in half OR use beet juice or powder. Food coloring adds only color not flavor. Anyway, back to Cold Stone. Love their offer of free samples. Their Red Velvet is TERRIBLE! Overwhelming flavor of COFFEE, which I only like in a morning cup...not foods! But especially not Red Velvet! So, hey, Cold Stone...get this one RIGHT, like you do with other flavors! BTW...only a big taste sample of Cake Batter ice cream could wash away the nasty taste of the so called red velvet sample! As always, everything else we had was wonderful!
