| - This review is of the casino and overall grounds, not of the hotel.
M is located off St. Rose Pkwy, about 5-10 miles south of the parts of the Strip you probably visit. It's fairly new, modern-looking, and clean inside.
*** Casino Stuff ***
M comes across as a great place to gamble and to not only win, but also even enjoy losing.
Casino registers fairly low on the smoke-o-meter, at the opposite end of the spectrum from the old Downtown casinos. Perhaps fewer people light up here, there's a decent ventilation system, or both. While I understand that Nevada's state motto is "Welcome, now have a smoke," I don't like smelling like other peoples' bad habits. M gets a big thumbs up here.
I won about $120 on a blackjack table here after about 30 minutes of play. They have easily-cased 2-deck games going without any of the silly 6-5 ripoff payouts like at many of the Strip casinos. They also have the nearly-full-pay 9/6 video poker here, a rarity anywhere in Vegas except for some machines in the high-caliber section at some Strip casinos. That also garnered me another $100.
Waitresses were very regular with the gamblin' drinks.
*** The Grounds ***
There are extensive pool, deck, and outdoor bar areas; problem was, nobody was using them on an 85F weekday. I didn't find anyone out there to ask if they were closed. Looks like a great place to hang out... provided that you can.
*** So would I stay here? ***
I'd certainly stop again at the M on my way in or out of town to play in the casino. I don't know if I'd actually stay there, as it's kind of isolated from the Strip and all the good restaurants and fun times that staying somewhere between Mandalay Bay and Mirage offers up.
