  • Mrs. White would turn in her grave if she knew her establishment was run so dishonestly. I came in with family to Mrs. White's Cafe hoping to get our fill with some authentic soul food. The service was lackluster and very very slow. We weren't greeted warmly as someone had said in the previous reviews instead coldly, we then proceeded to seat ourselves because no one greeted us. ...15 minutes later after sitting down, a server finally came over and took our drink orders. Then another 30 minutes to get our drinks. Service was very very slow. We sat patiently then the server came around and I asked her were were ready to order. She replied rudely "I'm the only server tonight so your going to have to wait!" 15 percent has just been deducted from her tip I thought in my head. So wait we did. Finally, we got to ordering. We ordered 2 catfish ($13 with 2 sides), oxtail ($16+ with tax), 3 drinks ($2.15 each). Food was ok. I've had better soul food having been in the South recently and eating at Chicken Box in Charlotte,NC. When we finally got around to paying, we never got a check, and were never told we would have to pay at the checkout window. I asked my mom for my phone to use my calculator because I know I was going into battle (these places usually think money grows out of my ass because they think I'm a stereotypical high maintenance Asian girl). The man at the window totaled our order and charged me $66.00. I begged to differ. I got my handy dandy calculator and we should have been charged $52. He apologized and said he was confused because the server was yelling over him while calculating our order. BS! Stay AWAY!
