| - after being at underground i discovered that the outstanding review in yelp that had persuaded me to give underground a chance was written by chads wife, one of the partners. how do i know this, because i asked chad about it. it violated yelp policies, i educated chad on that and he removed it. so if i am harsh, it is well deserved. reviews on yelp are intended to be honest account of customer experiences, and not from interested parties. I take pride in being part of the Yelp community, giving fair and balanced reviews is part of contributing to that community. My reviews are honest and tempered (read my other reviews). That IS the intention of yelp reviews, is it not?
this review comes thoughtfully months after leaving underground and after i was a client for over 8 months, exercising at the studio 5-6x a week and spending THOUSANDS of dollars. Therefore, it is NOT an isolated account or incident, it is a FAIR review of the services rendered.
I was a client for 8 months and many clients dropped out in the course of patronage with the same complaints. I have emails correspondence regarding my concerns with Chad. I also spoke in person with Chad about my specific concerns. the owners ignorance, does not mean the concerns were not valid or real, it does mean the owner is not informed. Rather then being defensive or dismissive, he could simply be apologetic. at least 5 people in our group were dissatisfied, that is real. perhaps the owner should inquire with previous member about satisfaction and reason for leaving the studio, that might be very useful to his business.
1.Many of the clients complained that their archaic system of billing was beneficial to Underground. they neither emailed or gave monthly receipts, the onus was on the client to look at monthly statements. After many months of being at underground chad billed me for two past months that were billed incorrectly, he neither called, emailed me or approached me at the studio which i was at at least 5x a week, he simply charged my cc without informing me of an overcharge of hundreds of dollars. This lack of communication and lack of courtesy was a perfect example of where his loyalties lie, its in his bottom dollar rather his clients health.
2.air temperature became an EVERYDAY struggle. i once became ill because it was so hot, the temperature was kept in the 80's even on extremely hot days and on many occasions i took pictures of the thermostat setting to show my husband because he couldn't believe how irresponsible Chad was in allowing clients to exercise in hot conditions. music was boring and unmotivating and this was also a continuous struggle with Chad. chads argument about the music and air temperature was that he couldn't cater to every members tastes, even though in my group class we ALL had the same complaints.
3. Chad's lack of hospitality is by an large personality driven. He often failed to look up from the computer to greet his clients when we entered the studio. my family and i were members for over 8 months and this lack of hospitality was reflected in his membership, hardly anyone was friendly despite our eagerness to befriend. the cost was outrageous considering the serious inability to listen to customers and serve clients. details are rather important and Chad and underground have little appreciation for such matters. Consider crossfit, it is intense, fun, has great music, they offer many classes at 1/8 of the cost.
