| - I love places like this that specialize in breakfast, so I was especially happy that the lady found out about and suggested (The) Egg & I on our second morning in Vegas.
Got there about 9:00 a.m. on a Tuesday, and although the place was busy, it wasn't packed, so there was no wait for a table. Started with coffee which was surprisingly good - very mellow with a good flavor. I even thought about asking what kind of coffee they use, but unfortunately forgot.
I ordered my favorite - corned beef hash and eggs, while the lady ordered country fried steak. CBH was in a soft patty form. The corned beef was of the finely-shredded variety probably from a can, so don't expect chunks from a brisket they brined and carved themselves. I'm not complaining - the stuff was tasty. The two eggs on top were done a nice over easy. I wasn't a fan of their Habla Diablo seasoned potatoes, which tasted okay, but were a little too loose for me - like if you tried to scoop them with your fork instead of stabbing them, they would just fall off. I like hash browns, home fries, etc. that stick together a bit so you can put them on the same bite as the CBH/egg/omelette/etc. I can't believe it's just me. Right?
The lady's country fried steak was tender and tasty. Not out of this world, but certainly better than you'd get at an IHOP. While I had wheat toast, she chose the banana muffin, which was great - just filling, so with the good portions of the rest of out breakfasts, we couldn't finish it.
Service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. I'd definitely come back.
