| - Hopefully my review helps you decide if you want to make Aurora your home (or not).
The property is old. Newly renovated but they were built in 1962. They look nice on the outside but there's only so much that can be fixed.
The apartment has a very spacey kitchen and living room area. In the 1BR 1BATH, the bathroom is very small. The bedroom doesn't have lighting or a ceiling fan(have to buy lamps). The laundry room is located inside the bedroom and the laundry room doesn't have lighting either. The vents have mold. AC unit is a cheap and old unit (maintained with 'freeze on') and from why I've heard, goes out frequently in the summer. Windows aren't insulated so you have cold air coming through windows in the winter time and I'm sure heat in the summer. Also have this issue at the patio door. Whoever renovated the bathroom did a lazy job. Pay close attention to tiles and caulking, the bottom of toilet, pipes being caulked, etc. The walls are thin. I can hear convos, arguments, etc. Again, this property is very old. Only so much that can be fixed.
My entry door wasn't properly flushed. Requested for it to be fixed and weather strips were installed but there are still gaps. Not a big concern now but I'm sure in the summer time due to rodents possibly sneaking in, there will be. Maintence said there was only so much they can do about the door closing properly since the property is old. Due to the weather stripping installed, I have to pull the door to lock/unlock. So much for using one hand to get in.
This property has been exposed to lead paint and bed bugs. Wish I had known this prior to signing my lease. But I did my research on the property after I signed my lease. I pray I don't have to deal with any bed bugs or roaches, ever.
Parking is a nightmare. It's on a first come first serve basis. Which is normally how it works. However, I live in 1408 (along with 1410, 1412 and 1414 in the same strip) and there is very little parking in this area. If you get home late, you will have to drive to other buildings to find a spot. The walk will take about 2-5 minutes to get to your apartment (at night its very scary if you're alone). I emailed management about the parking and of course, they said there's nothing they can do. I asked them to ensure guests who aren't tenants aren't parking here and they flat out said there isn't enough parking spaces for every unit in my area. This is a huge concern since there are many empty units. It's only going to get worse when they rent them out. If your unit is in 1408, 1410, 1412, 1414... You will have the same issues.
Have to pay $10 trash (apartment finder said it was free but it isn't), $6 pest control fee and $4.95 administration fee. All fees are paid monthly; about $21 added to your monthly rent.
