  • Why isn't six stars a possibility?! Seriously, I want to shout about "All Puppet Players" from the rooftops! To be clear, Playhouse on the Park is a venue that rents its space to aspiring performers. Just before the new year, I had an opportunity to enjoy a puppet performance at the Playhouse. This is one review that I want to go viral. Yes, I said "puppet". Perhaps you are the artistic sort. You may be familiar with the fine arts scene in the downtown area. If you are, then this sort of entertainment might not be to your liking. But then again, maybe it is. Playhouse on the Park and the All Puppet Players were introduced to me recently by my hockey buddy. As a Christmas gift, he got tickets to go see their production of "Die Hard - A Christmas Story". The Playhouse on the Park is a small theater on the ground floor of an uptown high rise (formerly the Dial Soap headquarters). Trust me, you know the building. Parking in the lot on the north side of the building is validated for patrons. But it's cumbersome and time consuming when trying to leave. And the theater isn't fancy. It kind of reminds me of my high school's theater. It's simple, functional and black. But enough on that... The thought of grown ups going to see a puppet show is hilarious. Doesn't matter that Die Hard is my favorite movie. It actually made it more enjoyable. Now combine an excellent premise with some talented (they sing) puppeteers, add some creativity (they ad lib), and round it out with a lot of humor and you've got one outrageous show. I wish I could've taken a photo of the performance, but it's discouraged. So this word of mouth is all I can offer. This group of puppet artists are very skilled, talented and worthy of this communities support. Look them up. You won't be disappointed.
