  • Let me start off by saying that this is a place I haven't been to in years, and that I was curious to go back after their recent renovations. The people I went with were also quite excited, with stories of how much they enjoyed Thursday's in the past. The location and layout are great and it has a lot of potential, so I'm not sure how much of my dismay was a function of an off day and how much is the new normal. 1) The music was extremely loud. Let it be known that I love ambiance and music and have a high threshold for noise levels. The fact that it was being mixed on the spot was a nice touch, but even yelling, we just could not hear each other. This led to awkward silences and mixed up drink orders as our waitress could not understand us. We even asked if they could turn it down even slightly so we could do more than stare at each other while eating our dinner to no avail, if anything it got louder. They have a saxophone player as well who would have been lovely to listen to if the volume wasn't blaring. 2) The service was subpar. We had to chase down our waitress for everything. She mixed up people's drink orders, sending things to the wrong end of the table and, not being able to hear us shouting it was wrong, left us to sit and wait and wave until she eventually came back. 3) The menu, although interesting, did not accurately describe the dishes/drinks. One girl ordered the same drink from their menu three times, and each time it looked and tasted different. I had a classic poutine, which entails fries, cheese curds, and gravy. What I got was fries and cheese curds smothered in a sweet bbq sauce. It was awful and completely unexpected. All in all, I feel like a bitter hag writing this and being so negative, but the culmination of the above three factors killed any excitement I had for the night and I was happy to leave. It will probably be a long while before I give it another chance. I sincerely hope that it was a fluke and that no one else has a similar experience.
