| - After a completely horrible experience at the SWD on Chandler Blvd office (see review) I went to the Tempe office. I bought their dental plan which seemed reasonable, but most of the fees went up the first time I used it.
The dental chair area is far from pristine. There are equipment boxes on the walls with the covers and wires lying on the floor.
I needed my top four front teeth (7-8-9-10) crowned. Prepping for the crowns was lengthy and tedious because the Dr needed consultation with a specialist in the same office on how to make the upper and lower fit.
Ok. the crowns are on and look good. One month later #10 chips really bad because they weren't lined up correctly with the bottom teeth and had to be replaced. You know what that means; waiting room, chair time, shot, drilling, prying, impression, and a temporary crown that NEVER stays on. Not fun! How ever no charge. Oh lucky me!
Every time I checked out there was some little extra fee; X-ray, additional exam, etc., of course at a higher fee than the dental plan indicated. The front office black girl (name ?) said I owed $385. I said how I could; I pay for all due every time I leave here. She said in a very shrill voice; "we have FEES you know". I said I paid the $385 and asked her to print me an invoice. She huffed and puffed and stomped off and got the invoice from the printer. Grrr, it was the wrong one so she had to do the huff and puff thing again and get another invoice. Well can you believe it, it had been paid! Apologize? No!
Ten months later #7 chips all to hell and has to be replaced. The Dr said maybe he could just smooth up all the sharp areas and leave it. Oh sure, that would make me look like Alfred E. Newman living in a double wide. Well by now you know what this means; waiting room, chair time, shot, drilling, prying, impression, a temporary crown that NEVER stays on. Lee, the dental assistant, sticks an impression in my mouth and walks out never to be seen again. In the back ground I hear people asking, "where is Lee"? Twenty two minutes later I am about to choke to death on saliva. I flagged down a guy walking down the hall and pointed to my watch and the impression. He couldn't find Lee so the Dr ended up coming and taking it out. I asked him how long it takes for the impression to harden enough to take it out. He said 3-4 minutes!
The Dr is working three other rooms so it is 45 minutes between every little procedure. THREE HOURS AND FORTY MINUTES!!! for this preparation! Oh yeah, they said all I had to pay is $128 for lab fee. And to make it all worse, the new crown was put in crooked so it hopefully wouldn't be chipped by the bottom teeth again. Alfred E. Newman would call me cuz now. OMG! How can these people be in business? I have no idea where I will get dental work from now on but it will NOT be SWD group.
I am going to see if the BBB can get the $128 back for me. I will write a follow up.
The nightmare continues; 2-1-12
In the last set of visits I had tooth #29, a canine, filled. A three minute procedure and $160. A year later I notice the filling is missing, for how long I don't know. Tooth #7, the one that had to be done twice because it chipped and was replaced crooked, thinking that this would keep it from chipping again by the tooth on the bottom, is a tiny bit sore if I carefully wiggle it. The tooth was whittled down to the size of a toothpick to put the crown on. This is the worst dental work I have EVER had done! Now what? The Arizona Board of Dental Examiners is useless. The BBB would only give SW Dental more bad rating. Even if some one would make them do it for free I wouldn't give them another shot at making a bigger mess of my teeth.
