  • Having a bad day? Stop in to the optical shop at Davis Duehr Dean on Regent Street. The people who work there all have at least 3 things in common: they like their jobs, each other, and their patients/customers. Go in and look for a pair of frames, even if you don't need glasses! Seriously, you'll leave feeling better about yourself/your appearance and you will likely get a few laughs out of the deal, too. This morning they barely had their first cups of coffee on board when I arrived, and the friendly banter among the staff was a real charge! It was like being at a local coffee shop, listening to people who have been friends since the dawn of time. But the real magic was the comfort you feel being there, because the person who's taking care of you - today it was Julie, but I've worked with Janet in the past, too - makes you feel really important. The last pair of glasses I got there are my favorite ever, partly because I got frames that I wouldn't have picked out myself (definitely not an expert at frame selection) and I always get compliments on them, but also because the lenses are done right across the street at a lab that is the best in town. It's amazing how much better I can see with a professional pair of lenses. Seriously worth every penny. If you need glasses, go there. You do NOT need Dean insurance to go to their optical shop. You'll never look back (pun intended!).
