  • NO NO NO!! I don't care what kind of cheap, greasy treats they are serving at the snack bar, this is a place I don't care to ever step foot in again! It seems as if a majority of the casinos/hotels downtown are trying to reinvent themselves, but Mermaid's is definitely not one of those places. This place is old, smoky and very small. They have 1 bar that serves frozen concotions and cheap beer (Hamm's anyone?!). The service was slow and not very friendly, when it should be the opposite - give me a reason to want to be there and to return, rather than give my business to The D or somewhere else nearby and much, much nicer. I had friends with me who had never been to Fremont St (one of them had never been to Vegas) and they were as grossed out as I was by this place. This isn't even "old Fremont," it's just repulsive. Sorry folks!
