| - I decided to give this salon a try because I stumbled upon an Instagram picture of a girl with blue hair (@arthaircolorstudioandspa) and decided I had to have it. Marius is the main colourist here, and he's great, he really takes the time to understand exactly what you want and doesn't rush or skimp on any effort to give you the perfect hair colour. I came in initially just for a consultation and to ask some questions, and he told me straight up that it would be a long process and recommended I make an appointment fairly early in the morning so he would have the whole day to work on my hair. It was good advice, because I ended up staying in the salon from 10 AM to 8 PM... a 10 hour process which involved bleaching twice to get my hair to the right shade of beige/white (as too much yellow in it would just turn my hair green when the blue dye was applied) and two colour applications (the first attempt at blue was too bright, so Marius added a bit of black to get the perfect shade of blue-black.) I really appreciated the fact that he was willing to redo the colour for the second time to what I wanted, because by then it was getting pretty late and I'm sure he just really wanted to go home. Actually I really appreciated the effort that ALL of the staff made on my hair, because in the end like 5 different people were involved in the process of placing foil, dying, washing, and drying and they were all so, so nice and friendly. The only one issue I had was with the washing, because one of the girls who washed my hair was a little too rough and kept bumping into my cartilage piercing which made it hurt and bleed :(
Since I had to sit in the chair for pretty much the entire day, I didn't get a chance to go out for lunch... so they ordered a bunch of pizzas for all the staff and invited me to have some. So, so sweet. Honestly customer service here is A+, they trust all their clients here like royalty, and it's obvious that most of the clientele here are long-time regulars. As a side tip, I heard one of the other stylists here works on Avril Lavigne's hair, so you know a place is legit when...
I paid $230 for my blue hair, and considering all the effort and work and time (again, 10 HOURS) that went into it, I don't think it was too much. The blue lasted about 2 months on me and since then I just haven't had the time to go back and get it redone, but I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend this salon to anyone, especially anyone looking to try something bold and different with their hair!
