| - Had dinner here with a large group recently, and while there was a lot to like, there were some issues as well. We were seated promptly upon arrival, and the space is definitely nice and comfortable. Drink orders were taken and delivered fairly promptly considering how busy the place was (Thursday evening dinner time).
After perusing the menu, we decided to get appetizers and spread them around; this netted us some tasty small plates. Among them, tender and flavorful lollipop wings, which featured a mild but distinct Buffalo style sauce with a delicious bleu cheese fondue for dipping. These were my go-to for the evening. Sliced calamari steak with chili honey glaze had a nice, thin breading giving way to a very tender and not at all rubbery interior; this dish was a major hit with the group. Another standout was the tuna poke and shaved tarot root; this featured a jar of deep red tuna poke with sesame seeds, onion, radish, and a little sriracha for heat, and was delicious on the crispy tarot chips. Unfortunately, an order of shishito peppers didn't make it to the table.
Things took a turn, though, when entrees were delivered. Me and another guest were sharing the bone-in New York strip, requested medium rare; it was delivered quite rare, well outside any notion of medium rare. This is difficult to forgive at this price point and service level. Upon letting our server know, she immediately requested a replacement from the kitchen, and while it was more properly cooked, it had also been pre-sliced, which seemed unusual to me. The flavor and seasoning were nice, but it put us a little out of step servicewise with our fellow guests.
Finally, we topped off the meal with a dessert that featured small ice cream cookie sandwiches; these were very good, with cookies that were fresh and decadent, and creamy ice cream that was very far from ordinary.
The service errors with the appetizer and steak, combined with cost, are what brings this review down. Other than the steak, the food items we received were very good, and I'd definitely eat here again.
