  • Shimogamo is my favorite sushi place in Phoenix! Happy hour is awesome! Waitresses are awesome! Rolls, sushi, tuna poke, o-toro, gyoza, you name it, I've probably had it. It's fantastic! We used to go every week, but are recently trying to save money. My two tips are: make a reservation! It's a small restaurant, which is a huge benefit. And from all the times I have gone it looks like there's a lot of regulars, including myself. This means that it fills up quickly. We started making reservations and it's wonderful. Your table is set and ready to go with menus when you walk in the door... On time! Second tip: Go on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. We think they get their fish shipment in on Wednesday or maybe Thursday morning. Also, I like the chefs on a lot more on those days. Better cuts of fish, look, and overall taste.
