| - After researching my 2010 Tacoma's issue online (factory daytime running light bulbs burning/cracking the lens), I brought my truck into Earnhardt Toyota on the morning of July 6th, 2016. I was assigned a service Manager named "Myron", who acted as if he'd never heard of the issue but knew exactly how to articulate the exact verbiage I observed online, in the Toyota service bulletin. After advising me a TSB is an information only bulletin, Myron did additional research and found my headlights had an extended warranty, which would be replaced by Toyota, free of charge. In order to fulfill the extended warranty, Myron scheduled the repair for Monday, July 11th. I took a day off work to complete the repair, brought it in to see Myron at 7:15am (for my 7:30 appointment) and he advised me he would have to have his service manager ("James") observe the damages. After James observed the damages, he gave the OK for the repair to be performed. Myron then stated, "I made a rookie mistake. I should have checked to see if your replacement lights were in stock." After confirming they were, Myron advised me the repair would take about 3 1/2 hours and would call be by 11am. I took the shuttle home and missed a call at 8:09am (from Earnhardt Toyota). Due to the fact there was no message left on my voicemail, I assumed it was a sales call (as I often receive them, asking me to sell them my used truck). At 9:23am, I received a call from Myron asking if I got his voicemail. I advised Myron there was no voicemail, just a missed call. Myron then advised me he made a mistake and the repairs would not be completed or covered by Toyota, as originally promised. Myron stated he misread the Toyota Extended Warranty issue and that it expired in November of 2015. In order to make it worth my while for dropping the truck off, he graciously had the truck washed, which was already washed a few days prior. I called and spoke to "James", the service manager who apologized and offered to cover the service, but charge me for the faulty part replacement cost.
This is totally unacceptable service, to me. I lost more money for taking a day off work than the parts, cost, themselves. Then I wasted an entire morning and they had at least 4 days to figure this issue out and did not.
There's no way I should be responsible for a faulty part that Toyota created. It is not only an eyesore but also a potential fire hazard. I expect better service and honesty when dealing with Earnhardt, and especially Toyota. I will definitely not be brining my truck, friends, or family members to this location again. Soooo disappointed!
