| - I drive a 2012 Hyundai Genesis RSpec coupe. The dealership advised me that the brakes needed to be replaced, and quoted me $250. I found Brakes Plus on Yelp, read all of the positive reviews (couldn't find any negative ones at the time) and called them for a quote. Hector was very nice and informative over the phone, and quoted me $149 + $21 for the sensors. I dropped off the car on Friday, explained that I would be picking it up on Monday.
I got a call from a mechanic on Saturday, and the price went from $170+ to $397. This included all 4 brakes, a brake flush, and an air filter. I told them that the air filter had been replaced 6 months ago, and his response was "its only $20". When I repeated the quote I got over the phone, he said that was only for 2 brakes. felt like a bait and switch like so many mechanic shops do. As I was out of town, and didn't have the time to call around for different prices, I gave permission to get the job done.
Then when I picked up the car, the price jumped again. He stated it was taxes, but when I looked at the receipt, it was obvious that it wasn't taxes. As the work had already been completed, i felt like i had no choice but to pay the bill.
The quality of the work done seems to be sufficient, which is why I am giving them 3 stars. but I have only had the car back for an hour at this time. Needless to say, they did not earn my trust, and I will not be a repeat customer.
