| - In all fairness, my comments come from the perspective of someone who enjoys play on a course but also looking for an alternative that brings a different level of challenge and just plain fun. I like the concept Topgolf brings to the table, but there's room for quite a bit of improvement. When we booked for a birthday in June, the weather was already uncomfortably warm outside. We knew that the facility had some accommodations by way of fans, but it barely made a dent in our level of discomfort. We were asking for cups of ice to run over our faces, neck and allowing the water to run down our shirts thinking that the rotating fans might give us more of an evaporative cooling effect. . . but the rotating fans left much to be desired. Placement of the fans were poor leaving dead spots where there was no movement of air and we were in one of those areas. Two of us in the party stopped golfing because we were getting sick from heat exhaustion. The second issue I had with the facility is that they don't allow you to use your own clubs. This is not going to be a big deal for someone who doesn't really golf or have their own set. Those of us who do have our own, have grown into the feel of our clubs. . . I didn't like the generic set and felt it threw my swing off. I realize this is an entirely personal issue that not everyone will share, but I like consistency and don't like to introduce anything that might effect the memory muscle aspect of the game. So, I'm not sure the trade-off of just goofing around and having fun is worth it for me. When asked why I couldn't use my clubs, I was told that people had been hitting outside of the netted area, upsetting homeowners in the area and also causing a hazard to the freeway just on the other side of the net. That should tell you something about the generic clubs and in my opinion, lending more credence to the poor planning in the design of the facility. My disappointment comes from the overall experience as a result of these two main limitations. For the price you pay, I expect more. It's great for family fun and very young inexperienced golfers who just want to party and experience/incorporate some friendly competition other than moonlight/cosmic bowling. For me, I will continue to enjoy the local golf courses in the surrounding area.
