| - Firstly: Shout out to Expedia for messing up our reservations for Palms Place penthouse on my birthday weekend.
They " re accommodated" us to the Platinum, and couldn't have done any worse.
My fiancée, my two cousins and myself planned our vegas trip for my birthday Mid April.
Upon arrival, we were disappointed that we were relocated to a hotel that was off the strip and didn't have any clubs or fun pools - we were basically in a family hotel.
We go upstairs with the bellboy and unpacked our things.
The bell boy took our bags off the cart and wheeled the cart out of the room, he never came back, he straight up left our front doors open.. didn't bother to close them after he left, didn't come back or anything.
I do my walk around the hotel room, it's a little empty but gorgeous.
However, there are no lights in any of the rooms or closets, only lamps. The rooms that did have lights - the kitchen and bathrooms- were very poorly working.
Because of this, i go around the entire penthouse and turn on all of the lamps to make sure everything is working. the lamp in the living room didn't have the thing to twist it on or push it to turn on, and the vanity lights next to the mirrors in the restroom seemed like they were only there for decoration, because even with help, they did not turn on.
I had to use my phones flashlight to hang up my clothes and get dressed all weekend.
My fiancée and i were mildly irritated and decide to just go to the grocery store. When we come back, we stop at valet and ask them to get us a cart so we can place our groceries to take them upstairs, they just stand there staring dumbfounded at us. So we open the trunk and our coke cans fall all over the driveway, the valets continue staring at us, just watching us pick all the cans up..And then they BOTH walk away.
So my fiancée becomes upset, goes inside to the front desk and asks them to ask the valet who walked away to please bring us the cart thing we asked for.
After putting out groceries away, we call and ask for some extra towels because we're going to a night swim, when we get back to our room we'd all like to take a shower, and you know what they tell us?
We're only allowed 4 towels.
What??
ANY hotel i go to, whether it's a basic room or a penthouse, ALWAYS give us as many towels as we ask.
But especially because we were staying in a penthouse all weekend, you would believe that theyd give you the best of services right? We're paying well over $500/night for this service??
The next day, i decide to make breakfast.
There's only one pan and one pot. And they suck.
my food came out looking like grits. They were all shredded and left hard residue on the pan.
The balcony door had no handles.
I struggle opening the balcony door so My cousin takes a go at it and broke two of her nails trying to open it with the sorry built into the door handle.
I became furious, i called the front desk and made sure that they knew just how frustrated i was with this room.
They never came up.
From then on we continued to open the balcony doors by sliding our hands on the glass, which left them insanely unattractive and dirty.
The last day, My fiancée asks for an extra hour with the room so we can get ourselves ready to go. They're nice enough to do that. But damn they don't play because 10 minutes before our hour is up, they are calling our phone, knocked on our door TWICE, like jeeze we get it but we got more time to NOT be rushed like this.
Our bell man comes up and he seems a little agitated because we have A LOT of bags but i mean, who doesn't? He kinda rudely asks us if that's it and i say " i believe so let me double check" and i go over to my cousins room and ask if there's anything else and my cousin hands me a duffel bag, so i turn around to put it on the cart but this guy is already out the door.
I call out to him "excuse me" 2 times but he continues walking so i just kinda looked at my cousins and told them I'd carry it down.
After checking out, the same man put our bags into our car, surprisingly, and tried to make forced small talk.
And this part i almost feel badly about, as we were leaving the bell guy followed us as far as he could in hopes of what I'm thinking is getting a tip.
Not tipping is not what i do, but 1) i didn't have any cash
And 2) I've said it once before and i will always always always say it when it applies
WHEN A COMPANY TREATS THEIR EMPLOYEES POORLY, IT SHOWS IN THEIR WORK.
Everything about this stay was unacceptable and it's so disappointing that i felt desperate every single day to get out of the hotel room because it was almost like staying at a distant relatives house where you don't really feel welcome.
Never booking through Expedia again, and definitely never staying at the Platinum again.
