  • Under any other circumstance I would NEVER do this, EVER! But with that being said because I used to be a teacher and choreographer here I can safely say, TAKE YOUR CHILDREN ELSEWHERE. I feel it my duty as an educator of dance that I have to warn people about this place. There are tons of studios in the surrounding area that are much much better. No organization, very unhelpful to clients. I had seen students and parents left completely in the dark about things that were going on. I was essentially asked to be the competition team co-director, to take on more responsibility, more classes, more rehearsals, MORE WORK. I was told that there was going to be a pay raise of sorts to be compensated for all the extra work and that DID NOT happen. I was never compensated for all the responsibilities that I had unofficially taken on. My pay wasn't even raised hourly. I was asked by the director to take on more classes and even some of the things that she was once responsible for in order for her to have more time to spend with her children. I had no problem doing so to help her out. I was there 4 days a week and for hours on end. I think I saw the owner and director there on 1, maybe 2 of those days. One of those days she was only there for an hour and left. She did not care about the students or the studio itself. The receptionist, to no fault of her own, was completely clueless most of the time because she was never told anything. I was usually the one that had to tell her what was happening and that was only because I would find out from the older students. The students at the studio, however, were fantastic. It was a pleasure to teach them but when the students start to notice that something is wrong and the absence of the owner and her very standoff-ish attitude and asking me what's going on? You have a problem. I did everything I could to help out and gave all the advice I could give in order to help better the studio as a whole and NOTHING was ever really done and none of my advice was ever really taken. I had dealt with some personal issues in my life that the owner was completely, 100% aware of because the medical emergency that I had happened at the studio! She was the one that called an ambulance for me. I was left unable to work for a month, that really hit me hard. I had to move out of my apartment shortly after that, dealing with ex boyfriend drama to an extent that no one should have to deal with. Come the end of February just having moved in to a new apartment, all my dances were done and almost ready to go for competition season. March hit and my students had gone to 1 competition already, I was unable to attend because it was in Utah and had I gone, it would have been out of pocket. In the following week, I had a meeting with the owner and her husband, why the husband was there was beyond me at the time but then I realized he was there basically as a witness and so that she wouldn't really have to say or do anything. She told me she needed me here. I need a teacher who is present and wants to be here. "Where is the old you? That we all know and fell in love with?" None of that made any sense to me because I was there more than she was and that is FACT. It was extremely hypocritical of her to even hint at the fact that I wasn't there in some way. Comical almost.. The students LOVED me. Said that I was their favorite teacher and one of the best that they had ever had. I had students coming up to me asking me if I had planned on staying for the following year, if I wasn't they'd come with me. Anyway, I had been late a few times because of traffic, talking about stand still traffic. There was an accident almost right in front of me! Another incident where I almost got into an accident because of some idiot cutting me off, I was shaken and needed to pull over. I called to let the studio know on both occasions. Long story short, I got a call from the husband and he fired me. She didn't even have the courage to do it herself. Based on me being late a few times or whatever. The worst excuse ever and completely unfair. She ruined my dance season and disrupted my life in a way I can't even describe and completely disrupted the lives of all the students, the competition team especially. UNPROFESSIONAL and selfish!
