We all know movers yank you around and somehow find those last minute charges they promised were included.... no exception here. What is even more sad is that their parent company UniGroup behaves the same way. Their words of wisdom for me prior to moving day when questioning the local movers practices, was that since I had not paid them yet; I was not their customer, therefore they refused to do anything.
What happened in my situation was that even after being requested to do so, Sullivan would not come to my apartment building. The day before the move they drove by and informed me that there would be a ~$700 additional charge because of my apartment building. When I disputed, they said I could pay it or find someone else, but they would not lose money on this move. Seeing as it was the day before, I had no choice but to pony up.
Oddly enough the actual moving staff was very good and professional. They worked hard and I appreciated that. Too bad they didn't own their own service.
