| - I can't believe I hadn't tried Mercurio's until today! I love wood-fired pizza so much, and this is some of the best in Pittsburgh. The menu is perfectly sized, with plenty of options but not at all overwhelming. Simple, straightforward food--antipasti, salads, pizza, some pasta. I'd like to return for dinner too because their wine list looks great, and you can get many wines by the half carafe. We ordered the rustico salad with prosciutto, artichokes, olives and cherry tomatoes, which was light and simple. It was served with delicious grilled bread and just the right amount of balsamic. We then shared the Pizza Del Re. If you're a fan of truffles, this is divine! It has baby bellas, mozzarella, prosciutto and truffle spread. The crust was soft yet thin, and was cooked perfectly.
Of course we had to try the gelato as well, which was good but hard to live up to the deliciousness of the pizza. We will certainly be returning soon!
