  • We are the sellers and our house is under contract. Yesterday we received the buyers inspection report. The report was vague saying possible organic growth in attic. Buyers want us (the sellers) to do a mold test. So I begin my research. It took about 2 minutes on the internet to see how Mold Testing AND Remediation companies are scamming people. Businesses that do both the testing and the removing of mold can turn into a conflict of interest. We have no problem correcting the mold, but do we really have it? Can we trust a $450.00 test from a company that makes their money on your mold? I ran across Ed Lampl you-tube posts about mold scam 101 and I had a gut feeling that he was the real deal. Since our house is in the Pittsburgh area, I called him to ask some questions and possibly have him test/inspect for mold. An hour later, I was educated and confident. As we were talking, Ed asked me to email him a picture of the the problem area from the report. He was able to give me several scenarios on my next steps. We are moving ahead with removal of this spot from a reputable company that REMOVES not just kills the mold. The company does not test either. Sometimes mold is mold and you can see it. Ed did not make a dime from me but gave me his time and knowledge and best wishes. He is truly an advocate for his cause and his top reviews on the internet prove it. I'm grateful for his help and I consider myself lucky to have talked to him.
