  • If you want to host an event in a grand old building that's in a very fashionable location this should be it! It's over a 150 years old, very spacious inside, old run down wooden walls and an open ceiling giving views all the way to the roof through the many lights and rafting. I came in for a 360 Screenings event (check out 360screenings.com if you want to know more about them). The basis of the event was showing a mystery film (ended up being Fight Club) with a pre-film mixer/reception/"elite-event-like" for 1.5 to 2 hours that included live performances by hired actors that would either spend their time in a caged area beating the crap out of each other, making soap or walking around being mean to the servers (like Helena Bonhem Carter's character would have). There would also be a lot of faux set pieces from the movie decorated all over the event space. So for an event such as this that needed a lot of free space the Fermenting Cellar was perfect. It was big enough to fit a car, a meeting for a support group, a good sized bar, lots of props, seating for all of us to watch a movie in an area draped off, people to get "fig I do need to mention their washroom which was massive, clean and the only men's washroom I believe I've seen that included not one but 2 very long sleek couches! So if you're hosting a large event (capacity of 600 or 400 for a plated event) you need not worry about long lines in the washroom (I assume the ladies washroom must be similar if not offering more seating choices?) Staff were very friendly, very nice lighting options, I can see it be a perfect setting for an art show and judging from their pictures on the website it can be transformed to do so many different events. It reminds me of Berkley Church which is a very cool old building with a unique setting for an event.
