Thought I would write this up so you can choose what matters:
Location: perfect. Literally a stones throw to a line of great restaurants and bars and shops. Like, throw a stone and you've got any food or drink you need.
Decor: gorgeous. I'm a fan of houses with stories and this one has one. The room was stunning. Like, he opened the door and my jaw dropped. Just such attention to detail.
Breakfast: very good. There are many choices but it's not simply continental as the staff have a special creation each day.
Owner: friendly. We didn't see him at all after check in the first and second day, but the third day he was there for breakfast and some others seemed to really take to him. He also gave us a good tip for where to start our journey in montreal. I think we just weren't there long enough to get to know him well.
Why only four stars? Two things. One, we had to pay additional for parking which I wasn't expecting. Parking in Montreal is tough, so having the parking space (which we paid for each day mind you) would have made this place a must go to. And two, the amenities in the bathroom. I know this is persnickety, but the towels felt like threadbare hotel pool towels, and the shampoo was hotel-y as well. I know some of you will roll your eyes, but it's worth noting simply because of the price and luxury of the rest of the interior, it was just a bit unexpected.
