| - I am very disappointed in Dignity Health-St Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix.
The last few visits to the E.R. were fine, until Wednesday night. The E.R. physician I saw was very good and knowledgeable about chest pain, bad headache, and extremely high blood pressure I was presenting with. (I have heart disease) and I am under the care of a cardiologist.
He said he wanted to run some tests. I had already had an EKG which was abnormal, and he ordered labs, MRI of my brain and a chest x-ray. i was moved from the initial E.R. triage area to another part of the E.R. and placed in the hallway next to the nurses station because they didn't have any rooms available. I was never offered a pillow or blanket. The x-ray tech offered me two blankets. Both techs were very nice. The nurse that was taking care of me was nice.
I was placed on a tele monitor and oxygen. Finally, I was moved to a room with a curtain as someone was either discharged or admitted. My nurse told me it was official after midnight, that I was going to be admitted. (I was told that by my E.R. physician earlier). The nurse suggested my husband return home and come back later that morning. My husband left and a change of shift occured a few hours later. The physician assigned to me did not bother to call my cardiologist as the previous E.R. physician stated he was going to do in the morning. Instead he said I needed to attend their headache clinic and get off of some of the medications I take. Huh?
He doesn't know anything about me or my many medical conditions. I don't regularly have bad headaches, unless my blood pressure is high. They did give me morphine twice to help with the pain, but even though I had an I.V. they didn't give me potassium, etc., it was placed there just for the pain medication, apparently. I was finally given some cold water to drink with my morning medication.
The E.R. internal medicine doctor specifically told the nurses to discharge me at 7:45 am. He asked me to promise I would call my cardiologist office and schedule an appointment when I left. He said there was no reason to keep me and promised I would receive a breakfast tray. The breakfast tray did not arrive and I was discharged with my blood pressure of 177/95 (on the monitor in my room) and a terrible headache too. (The good news is, I didn't suffer a stroke or heart attack);
We will not be returning this hospital. It has unprofessional internal medicine physicians in the E.R. and unprofessional nurses whom talk about their patients outside at the nurses station where patients and anyone else can overhear, thus, violating the HIPPA Privacy Laws in place.
This hospital is not run properly and I think the employees there are not happy with their employment or at least some of them don't appear to be. Coincidentally, it begins at the top (administration) and then filters down to the employees working there. Changes need to be made soon.
