Visited Hoppin' during their opening week (also coincided with the Clemson/Miami (ACC Championship Game) so it was a very busy weekend and there were A LOT of Clemson fans in the house... some of them had been tailgating since the wee hours of the morning for an evening game, but the 36 oz limit did not seem to phase them too much.
This past weekend was a cold one... and we met up at Hoppin around 2pm-ish... by 3pm the place was absolutely slammed. I think everyone probably got antsy from being stuck indoors all morning and decided to come here.
The staffers seemed to have a game plan down as there were a lot of people walking around helping folks out at the taps as well as bussers to keep the tables clear of empty glasses.
We were early so very fortunate to get tables, but people seemed to mill about and carve out places to stand and enjoy the afternoon. We ended up going to Palmer Street afterwards so the break in the noise level was much welcome. There was a line out the door to get in. Not very good when the temps are in the 20s and teens.
Hopefully the popularity of this place will still remain after the initial "new paint smell" wears off.... something tells me they have a winning combo here and a captured market in SouthEnd.
