I'd read and heard so much about this place I was really excited to try it. Lotus of Siam is located in a pretty nondescript strip mall. It looks small from the outside, but it's way bigger than it looks! Clearly the business is doing well!
The menu is very extensive and can feel overwhelming. We ended up ordering an assortment of noodles, curries, and satay. The standouts to me where the thai style tartare and the roast duck curry. For my friends, the beef tongue was a favourite. I see other reviews talk about the garlic prawns. We didn't order that, but I would definitely try it next time! While their coconut rice / ice cream dessert didn't sounds so special, I found it to be really tasty!
Compared to other thai resturants, I'm not sure if Lotus is so much better to warrant the 2x in cost / person. Each dish wasn't that much more expensive, but I found the portions to be a little on the small side. Their requirement that every person shows ID for credit cards was a little weird too, but I guess they must have had fraud issues in the past. For some of the novel items though, it's definitely worth a visit.
