Here is the email my husband sent to their customer service today. I am still too upset to write my own words. I did send out a tweet how upset i was and received a generic "contact customer service". Surprised they even have "customer service" because I feel like they could care less about their customers.
"Today my wife and I had a full day of travel flying to Savannah, Georgia from Reno, NV. Our first layover in Dallas lasted a few hours and then we were supposed to go to Charlotte for a quick layover before our flight to Savannah. The flight from Dallas was delayed 45 minutes, which was concerning because we were only scheduled to have roughly 50 minutes of layover time in Charlotte. We spoke to multiple people about the delay asking if there would be any problem making our connecting flight and if there was anything to do about it and were told multiple times that the "people of the connecting flight were made aware of the delay". When we landed in Charlotte my wife and I literally ran across the entire airport and arrived at the gate 10 minutes prior to takeoff. Despite seeing the airplane and being there 10 minutes before the flight time we were told that there was no way we could make the flight.
Additionally, the attendant at the desk stated they were not told of any flight delay and that we had been paged multiple times overhead for the flight and when we did not respond our seats were given away.
The most frustrating part of this experience is the complete lack of empathy any of the American Airlines employees showed throughout all of our encounters. This has been an extremely upsetting day of travel and I while I can assure you that I will never fly American Airlines again, I thought someone should be made aware of this occurrence so that potential changes can be made in the future. Though if the American Airlines leadership is anything like the employees I interacted with today, I highly doubt anything will change or improve. Thank you for your time"
