  • My counter top installers literally just left 20 minutes ago, and I am already singing their praises. I ordered my new Silestone Quartz counter tops through Home Depot and didn't really know what, or who, to expect. That's how it is when you order through the mega stores, but it was convenient and they were having a sale. I didn't order the most expensive style, by any means, but Desert Eagle has treated me with the utmost respect throughout the process. A few examples: Toby from the office contacted me a few days after I put my order in at HD and left a voice message suggesting that I can call in whenever my cabinets were completely installed so they could send someone out to measure. When I didn't call back right away, she made another call about a week - a week and a half later to check that I got my original call. We were still far from ready, but she assured me there was no problem waiting on their end. When the cabinets were near completion, I contacted Toby and set up an appointment for the person who would measure. I have never seen whatever it was that he was using to measure the cabinets (it looked like a camera?) but it seems to have done the job. He was polite, on time, and whatever information he took was correct given that the install is complete with no issues. Next thing I know, I'm getting a call to come look at the slab that's been delivered. Since Quartz counter top material is a composite and thus very uniform from one batch to the next, I was surprised to be given this option, but I took advantage of it, anyway, knowing that if I did not and I objected to something about it, I would have waived my right to complain. There was a little bit of a wait to get back to the cutting floor, but that's minor. The lady at the reception desk was friendly and I just amused myself reading mail on my phone while I waited. After I approved the slab, they had me sign off on something and asked if Wednesday would be OK. That was just a few days later, and we still weren't 100% ready. I asked to bump it out another week to make sure all our upper cabinets were in place and we were ready to go. They were more than pleased to accept my new proposed date, given that most people are in a huge rush and I was actually pushing it back. After I got back home, I realized I might like to have a cutting board in the same material from any waste (such as the sink cut-out) to keep on my counter. I did ask Toby about this over the phone and she was not sure but said she'd check on the price, but that she was sure if there was a large enough piece, the installers could cut and polish it off on-site. I didn't hear back from her, but figured I'd deal with that on the day of install. Day before scheduled install, Toby calls me to confirm appointment and gave me a 2-hour window for the installers' arrival. I ask her about the cutting board and she apologizes for not getting back to me, and says the installers will bring it with them and there will be no charge! I was delighted! Installers show up today, well within the timeframe promised, and get right to work. Since we installed our cabinets ourselves, there were some minor amateurish mistakes made and they had no issues fixing them for us before proceeding with installing our countertops. I made myself plenty available for them as they were working, and they stopped what they were doing several times to ask my input on something that was questionable (would I prefer it this way? Or that?). I really appreciate this, a lot! They were working hard the whole time, very polite, quiet and cleaned up after themselves. They even made a point to make sure the door was closed when they entered and exited the house, which means a lot to me because we have indoor cats. (Although they were secluded in a bedroom behind a closed door, the thoughtfulness in ensuring the doors were closed did not go unnoticed!) Everything was done to perfection, in my opinion, and I am thrilled! I literally want to sleep with my counter tops tonight and for the foreseeable future! And my cutting board? Well, they told me right away when they arrived that the cutting board was not ready this morning and would be delivered sometime today while they were working. No big deal. For free, am I really going to complain about it being a little bit later? Unfortunately, when they were finishing up, I asked one more time about the cutting board, and before I knew it, one of the guys was making a call about it. In the end, it still hasn't arrived, but I assured them no problem - I will happily pick it up from their shop as I'm in that area frequently, anyway. OK, could deduct .25 of a star for this, but it still rounds up to a 5. Overall, I am thrilled to provide a recommendation and next time I need something they sell, I'll see if I can go straight to them and bypass the big box store.
