  • I was headed to Vegas for the HIMSS conference and unfortunately made reservations late so we ended up at the New York New York. It was an awful experience from start to finish. The check in process took forever and when we finally got to the front, the lady was extremely rude. After she finally found my reservation, she informed us that if we wanted an early check-in, we would have to pay an additional fee ($25-30). They had rooms ready and we had a reservation, but they wanted to charge us to let us in one hour early! I have NEVER had a hotel do this before. Next, my reservation clearly requested a room on a higher floor....she gave us a room on the 5th floor. Directly next to the roller coaster and with a "view" of the mechanical roof. Our room literally shook every time the roller coaster went by. I called to switch rooms and was placed on hold for a long time before I got a manager, who suddenly had a room for us on the 15th floor (but she made us lug our bags back down rather than offering to send someone up with a new key). The new room was slightly quieter but that's about the only positive thing I can say. We could barely open the door into the room because it was so small. The door nearly hit both the desk and the armoire. The armoire had an old tv, three hangers (one was broken), a safe that didn't work, and a space where a refrigerator SHOULD have been. Then I went into the bathroom. Oh my, the bathroom. There was one sink (who has ONE sink?!) and one terrible overhead light. The sink had built up mold and calcium on the faucet. The shower had one of those flimsy sliding doors that never gets clean and you actually had to step into an old school, small tub in order to shower. The shower head and faucet also had mildew and calcium deposits and the water pressure was non existent. It was honestly one of the worst hotel bathrooms I've ever seen! We did try to go enjoy the pool one afternoon. It's got to be one of the smallest on the Strip and at least half of it is in shade at any given time. On top of that, the lounge chairs are easily 12 years old....they have those plastic straps but all of them are stretched out and faded. So awful! If you are going to Vegas, DO NOT go to this hotel!
