| - How have I not reviewed Reathrey Sekong yet? OMG. This place is amazing.
If you want to save yourself some time, just stop reading here and go, already. Unless it's Sunday, in which case they're closed, and you should go on Monday.
Reathrey Sekong is the sole Cambodian restaurant in Phoenix, and you'll quickly see why once you've eaten here: It would be really hard to compete with. The ambiance and decor are gorgeous, inviting, and tranquil, the menu's varied and intriguing, and the dishes come out absolutely delicious. Service can seem slow if you're used to being rushed in and out the door elsewhere, but if you're not in a hurry, you'll appreciate the attentive but laid back service that gives you time to unwind, savor each dish you order, and actually enjoy the company of whomever you're with.
My partner and I have been here many times and never been disappointed. Do bring your sense of adventure; this isn't some bland Americanized place. There's lots of fermented funk and heat (though also plenty of dishes without), and there's plenty of offal on offer if you're feeling gutsy.
Reathrey Sekong is great for date night, a family dinner, or even just being too lazy to cook for yourself.
If you're overwhelmed by the menu, start with an order of the Student Noodles: You can't go wrong with them. And don't be afraid to ask your server for suggestions!
