  • This historic hotel in the heart of Cleveland has a lot going for it. The lobby is knock-out beautiful, you don't have to leave the building to get on the RTA, its a close walk to many attractions, and it has great conference facilities. I recently stayed here for a week attending a National Conference. The hotel staff was welcoming - check in/out was a breeze and the meals served were overall excellent (a lot of chicken - but everybody likes chicken, so what are you going to do?). My queen-bed room was lovely - lots of great goodies (shampoo, etc...) awaited me, the bedding was soft, warm, and clean, the Internet was fast and the room layout and size was fantastic. You do have to pay for corded Internet in your room (WiFi does not exist). It is $13/day - but includes all local and long distance calling (but who needs that, really - its 2007!) I think that the hotel had recently been updated - but several key elements were weird. In such a nice room and bathroom why a toilet that looks and flushes like you are at a football game? Why do the bathroom fixtures look and feel outdated? My biggest complaint was the wake-up call service. Generally, you call down to the front desk for a wake-up call and they input you in the computer and you get an automated call. Other times a real live person calls you. Usually this call occurs as exactly (give or take three minutes) the time you requested. NOT at the Renaissance Cleveland! Both of the times that I requested a wake up CALL a person came to my room and knocked a full 15 or 30 minutes AFTER I requested the call. Thank goodness I was already up and going or I would have been significantly late! As I said, the location is great and the hotel details are cool - I probably wouldn't pay to stay here myself but if someone else put me up, I wouldn't cry about it!
