  • We previously stayed at the Venetian and enjoyed it so I was looking forward to staying at the Palazzo. We got 2 rooms (one was for my mother) and booked through Travelocity. The room was what I expected (very similar to our room at the Venetian) with a king bed and sunken living room, etc. The room was aesthetically pleasing and for the most part, very clean except that the cleaning person left a pill wrapper on the floor and forgot to give us the shower mat two days in a row which was a bit annoying. Check-in was easy and the front-desk staff was friendly. My only complaint is about the $32 resort fee that is charged daily. I know this is the standard in Las Vegas now and when I checked in, the front desk staff explained that resort fee includes the wifi, spa access, a daily newspaper, phone access, etc. When we stayed at the Venetian 3 years ago, the newspaper was at our door every morning. My mom enjoys reading the newspaper and I was surprised that it was nowhere to be found this time. Upon checking out, I asked about the newspaper and was told that they stopped delivering it to every room since most people don't read it and it was a waste of paper. I completely get this and understand however it would have been nice when I checked in if the clerk had said "if you would like the newspaper, you need to show your key card to CafĂ© Presse and you will be given the newspaper". In general, Vegas is very expensive now and I disagree with paying the resort fee. It's just another way for the hotels to make more money and in the case of my husband, myself and my mother, we did not use any of the amenities that the fee supposedly covers. We did not use the phone, the wifi, the newspaper, the spa, etc. I personally think that the fee should be waived if one does not use any of these amenities. I complained upon check-out about the shower mat missing and the newspaper availability and in fairness, they offered to reverse the fee for 1 night for each room. I asked to have the fee waived for all 3 nights for 1 room and they agreed. I still don't like paying the fee for the other room but I understand this is standard practice now. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Palazzo; it is a beautiful hotel and I would not hesitate to stay there again but the resort fee added to an already expensive get-away.
