We have taken our dogs to Brown Road Animal Clinic for 20 years. We have had three different Shih Tzu dogs that were treated there. We also have a daughter with a Chihuahua and a son with a Yorkie. All five dogs have seen Dr. Adkins and on an emergency basis seen Dr. McNulty. MAJOR DIFFERENCE! Dr. Adkins will do all he can to first make your dog comfortable, then treat the illness or injury. He has diagnosed cancer, eye and ear infections, allergies, etc. Once in a great while when Dr. Adkins is not available we used Dr. McNulty. DO NOT use her for anything. GO somewhere else. She does not have the temperment to handle dogs. With a total of 4 visits using Dr. McNulty, 3 of the visists required us coming back to the office for a re-eval with Dr. Adkins. She misdiagnosed them every time. My dog needs his anal glands expressed due to a complication he has since he turned 10. Dr. Adkins has done it numerous time without a peep from my stoic little guy. When Dr. McNulty did it in Dec. 2015 little Captain Jack screamed and cried not for a second but for awhile. I HAVE NEVER HEARD HIM SCREAM LIKE THIS EVER IN 10 YEARS! It was ridiculous. He was not himself for days and scooted and seemed in pain. Dr. Adkins saw him a few days later because she put him on antibiotics and he was sicker. Dr. Adkins said he did not have an infection at this time, did not need the drug now, and gave him a shot to calm the nerves that had been aggravated from some unknown issue. In any case three missed diagnosis and causing undue pain is not OK with me. I will never take him back to Dr. McNulty for even simple things. Dr. Adkins is a marvel for us. He is a gentle man who loves animals and is quite educated. Like I said in 20 years he has found out what is wrong with our three dogs and two other dogs and each and every one of them has been treated and recovered from their illnesses unless they were terminal. Dr. Zenn seems good too. I would trust his judgement but we have built a relationship with Dr. Adkins so he is our favorite. I like the staff and they work hard to help all of us when we are confused as to what to do until we can get the dogs into the doctor. I highly recommend Brown Road Animal Clinic except DO NOT USE DR. McNULTY, she is always available for a reason.
