| - I get why people like this place. Heck, I walked in all primed and ready to like this place. I'm a huge fan of Mongolian grill places - my favorite being Hu Hot, a chain in Iowa. But Bd's just kept failing me over and over. We went over on a weekend night - probably our first mistake - and the place was packed. When your food is cooked to order, and you have to stand in line until it's ready, a busy restaurant means you're going to be standing around, hanging out, for a very long time.
That's fine - it's part of the experience and I get it. But when they put you next to a huge gong that they ring for birthdays, and there are a lot of birthdays, you'll wind up with a ringing headache to accompany your empty stomach.
Finally, the whole thing was too salty - and it happened twice, with two different sauces. Eventually I gave up and had stuff from the salad bar, which was perfectly fine.
I love the concept and will probably go back - but only because it's the only place like it in the city. I'm hoping that the saltiness was just a one-night thing and that it was somehow my fault, since that would mean a second visit also wouldn't go awry. I'm also going to try to figure out which nights have infrequent birthday diners. Perhaps a nice Tuesday?
