  • I am so sorry to have to complain about my recent manicure-pedicure, but I am really disappointed for the second time paying for this service [out of only three in my life]. (1) the nail tech described on the site has many years of experience and the one I actually got said she had "two" yrs (2) my appt was at the hottest time of day in late afternoon and the only place to sit for the pedicure was within a couple inches of the west window, you could feel the heat radiating from the glass magnifying the sun and I was literally sweating for the first hour -- I was not allowed to move my seat to be more comfortable. (Luckily, for the manicure I was moved to a table away from the heat.) (3) The polish on my big toes was bubbly and I had to reapply a heavy topcoat when I noticed later to make them look decent. I had actually mentioned to her that happened to me before because they did not wait for the polish to dry between coats or use a product to set each layer [or start on hands between drying]. She applied all 4 coats in a row and when I asked about the top coat being quick-drying or the kind that might cure coats underneath, she said she doesn't like to use it and preferred to let it dry naturally. Another reason for the "bubbles" is that she had to "thin" the polish before using it -- and she was obviously not concerned at all. (4) I also requested that she make the toenail length even when she was cutting them, as I knew they were not, and she totally ignored that request on the two big ones that did not match at all, the left even being crooked. (5) There was very limited choice of colors on the "gel" manicure and I had to pick a "neutral" as I did not like any of the others, except one, but it had sparkles. I mentioned tactfully that if I was just going to do them in a "neutral" color I could have done them myself instead of paying . . . that did not concern her either. (6) The "gel" manicure is suppposed to last for awhile, but she apparently did not push back my cuticles because on every single finger, the gel polish was painted over the cuticles onto the skin and had an obvious ridge when I looked at them on the way home. After only two days they started to peal, so I of course picked at them to even them off, and my manicure looks like it is a week old already. (7) Lastly, I had to ask questions and make small talk to have any kind of conversation at all, and it was not much fun to sit in silence for most of two hours since she was not in the mood to talk. I, like some others, purchased the deal online so I paid $25 plus tipped $10 [before noticing flaws in pedicure and manicure], so I spent $35, and was stressed when I came home and showed my boyfriend, who immediately saw both issues. Even $35, supposedly a "deal" -- is way too much for feeling like I got nothing to show for it (can do a better job myself) and the stress and disappointment along with it. Okay, I'm done, but I just had to "dump" . . .
