  • Surprisingly unimpressed. I am a huge fan of Bobby Flay and nothing really impressed me about Mesa Grill. There were three of us in our group and although the meals looked appetizing, our selections were just OK. I had the grilled lamb porterhouse chops with the plantain tamale dish. The lamb was well cooked and the plantain tamale was very nice, but once again completely unimpressed ... specially for the price. Our bill was $180 with tip and all three of us left Mesa Grill completely dissatisfied and we all agreed that we would not return. What made it even more dissatisfying was the impersonal staff. Our waiter rushed through our visit and didn't even take the time to explain the menu. They definitely run a tight ship here and there are no accommodations if you are early or late or if you're are missing part of your group. We were there on time, but the group on front of us was made to wait because they were a few minutes early. The one reason why this review gets 3 stars (instead of 2) is because of the delicious dessert we had. My wife had the Sticky Toffee Pudding and it was heavenly. Exactly what you expect from a fine dining restaurant - I highly recommend it. Here are the pros and cons based on our visit. Pros: great location, nice wine and beer selections, dessert options. Cons: Overpriced, limited menu, limited dietary options, unfriendly and unaccommodating staff.
