My car died in the middle of forbes ave at 10 pm on a saturday so I had no real other options then to get it towed to somewhere that AAA would allow. The next morning I get a call from Pep Boys saying that it was my alternator (which was 1.5 yrs old) and my battery is also dead because of the alternator. I had a 3rd party ship them the alternator since it wasn't very old and was covered under their warranty. They called me when they got the alternator and had put it in and proceeded to tell me to it was ready for pick up.
I had been traveling for the holidays so the car sat in their parking lot for 5 days. I go to pick it up and notice that they charged me $97 FOR AN HOUR OF LABOR. Once I overpaid them to "fix" the alternator and battery I go out to my car to start it. THE CAR HAD NO POWER. They tell me to leave the car their overnight and they will fix the problem the next day. After looking at the car for an entire day they could not resolve the issue. The mechanic didn't even call me to update me on the status of my car. I called Pep Boys that night and spoke to an associate who tried to tell me that I was probably going to have to pay to fix their mistake. The next morning I called to speak with a manager who was much more understanding and much more helpful than the associate. He told me that the technician should have called me the night before and that I was definitely not going to have to pay for the new repairs. I am currently going on two days without a car due to the negligence of Pep Boys. Overall this has been the worst experience I have ever had with a mechanic or repair shop.
TL;DR I took my car to get the alternator and battery replaced. Pep Boys ended up killing my car and making it worse. Associate tried to tell me that I was going to have to pay for their mistake. Spoke with manager and he said that I won't have to pay. I still don't have my car back yet...
