| - I'm really torn about this place - I want to love it because of my stylist, but there are certain things I cannot ignore. Management has a long way to go to make this place 5 stars. The only reason this place is even getting 2 stars is because my stylist was nothing short of a master. If the rating was solely on my stylist, ignoring the other problems of the salon I would give him a 5. Giovanni knows his stuff, he can cut and color with great precision - his work is art.
I arrived on time for my visit and chose an early appointment to avoid backlog - still I ended up waiting nearly 30 minutes before I saw my stylist. Appointments could be scheduled with more buffer room. The owner did try to to make my wait a little more tolerable with tea, but still when you already have a long appointment ahead of you, the last thing you want to do is wait so long.
In spite of this being an Aveda salon, and advertising on their website "Enjoy complimentary stress relieving rituals customized with your favorite AVEDA aromas during all of your haircuts." this part is a complete farce. Not only does this not happen (and judging by other reviews I'm not the only one), they don't even have the oils to perform this ritual. I had actually brought my Aveda voucher for an aroma sensory journey, I was advised by one of the owners they don't carry the oils because there are too many and cannot honor it. I will be honest, this is the first Aveda I have been to that does not carry the signature oils (and by the way last count there were only 6 oils, to me that doesn't seem like too many).
Pricing runs high at this place, even higher than their website advertises, so beware. I actually called to inquire why my partial highlights and hair cut was $35+ over the website. I was advised by Brittany that the site is outdated and they are in the process of updating it. She says there are different prices for different levels of stylists (the site makes no distinction or note of that), also when I booked my appointment I was not given a choice, nor made aware of this (booked by Brittany). The website page is titled "Salon Menu" with set dollars, for example, "Women's Cut $55". I don't know about you, but when I order something off a menu I expect that price or to be told upfront there's a discrepancy.
In my opinion this place is very expensive for not being located in a major metropolitan city, and their misleading pricing and services are a sore point for me. I cannot recommend this place, nor do I see myself returning based on how its managed. I think perhaps they would be better off dropping Aveda alltogether along with their prices. I will continue my search for a better and TRUE Aveda salon.
