  • The James W. Shocknessy Ohio Turnpike is one of the best in the nation. The road has no pot holes. Services are generally good, and now with EZ-Pass they've eliminated the need to talk to the evil buckets that work the toll plazas. 218/Mahoning was perhaps the worst, but now, no talk, just "EZ-Pass GO!" Only negative is too many troopers...one assigned to every 20-mile zone., but the speed limit is 70mph, so you can easily push 78/79 with no problem. Good news is if you get a turnpike ticket in a 70-zone it's a no point violation as this is the only private road in the state with a speed limit higher than 65.
