| - After visiting Sit! Stay! Dog Emporium a few times for dog grooming, I was happy to have finally found the perfect place. Albeit, the cuts are quite pricey, the quality was great and they do employ talented groomers.
My last experience with them however, changed my opinion and I will not be returning to this establishment.
I brought my dog in for grooming one Saturday afternoon. I work nearby and decided to head to the office for a couple of hours or so rather than head home. The person working the store told me my dog would be done in about an hour and a half. No problem. They would call me when ready, and I provided both my mobile and work numbers.
About 3 hours later with no phone call to either number, I finally decided to walk down to the shop. The clerk advised me that I would be charged a late pick-up fee (x2) which was something like $60 because I did not come to collect my dog. I reminded her that I was told I would receive a phone call. I assumed the appointment was taking longer than usual because my dog was seeing a new groomer. Upset about the additional, unwarranted, fees I left in a hurry, completely forgetting to tip the groomer for her service.
After further investigation, it so happened that Bell was having a province-wide technical issues that said with all calls sent and received. My work phone is on the Bell network. My suspicion is that Sit! Stay! Dog Emporium is also on the Bell network which is why the call-outs were never received.
I sent an e-mail to the business asking that, given the communication issue, they apply the late pick-up fee in tow ways: 1. provide 20% to the groomer as a tip and apply the balance as a credit to my account.
I never heard back from the business owners. Since being a repeat customer, I expected a reply either accepting or refuting my proposal... but I got nothing. And so, for $60, they have lost my business for the next 10 years. Oh well.
The other thing that bothered me about Sit! Stay! is that since they've incorporated their company, they had asked me to sign a waiver.... a completely unreasonable waiver that releases even "potential" customers from any liability should your animal by hurt while on Sit! Stay! Premises.
Anyway, the waiver and complete lack of follow-up by the business owners management are the reasons why I will no long patronize Sit! Stay! Dog Emporium.
